Beckoning cats that is called Maneki Neko in Japanese. by the way Neko means cat . A beckoning cat is a sculpture of a sitting cat with one paw raised . The cats are typically made of porcelain or ceramics. They are a kind of good-luck tailisman to bring happiness to the owner. You can often see them displayed in shops, restaurants or Japanese-style inns to invite in customers and good business. Since thier palms are facing out , some Westerners think the cat is waving good-bye. However for Japanese people, it is a beckoning gesture of welcome.
